The Big Food Truck helps make good-quality food more affordable for local families and individuals by rescuing surplus food from supermarkets and manufacturers. This includes fresh produce and cupboard staples, which are then made available to members of the community at a fraction of their usual cost.
This short film production was designed to tell the story behind the service and, most importantly, the people who make it possible. Through a series of interviews with staff, volunteers and people who use the service, we were able to capture a range of personal experiences and perspectives, providing an authentic insight into the difference The Big Food Truck makes.
Alongside the interviews, the production captured the atmosphere and community-focused nature of the project, helping to demonstrate how surplus food can be redistributed to those who need it while supporting people facing rising food costs.
The result was a poignant and informative short film that communicated the purpose, impact and importance of The Big Food Truck. Screening the film at the Mayor’s Ball provided an opportunity to share its story with a wider audience and highlight the valuable work being carried out by The Big Food Project within the Blackpool community.
The project demonstrates how video can be used to tell meaningful stories, raise awareness and give a voice to the people and organisations making a genuine difference in their communities.
